We have an important announcement to make that comes directly from Facebook about third party app support inside of Facebook Groups.
As of April 22, 2024
"Any tools and features that require third-party apps to be installed in Facebook groups will no longer be available. For example, third-party apps that allow you to go live in a group will no longer be available, although you can still livestream from a group with a stream key." - Meta (source)
What this means is that LIVEpigeon and any other services that utilize Facebook's provided API for Groups will be losing their integration with this specific feature with Facebook. Users will not be able to directly connect their Facebook Groups inside of their Destinations Tab by simply logging into their Facebook account anymore. Now you will have to manually connect to your Groups using a Stream Key instead.
The option to select Facebook Groups will be removed from your "Add a Destination" menu
Unfortunately this will impact the convenience of our software, though it does not completely remove your ability to go LIVE. LIVEpigeon's integration with Facebook is not fully removed though, so going LIVE to your Profile or any Pages is still fully operational.
To learn more about how to go LIVE to Groups using a Stream Key, we have some articles here that guide you through the process:
- Go LIVE to Facebook Groups using a Persistent Stream Key
- Schedule to Facebook Groups using a Persistent Stream Key
- Create an event in Facebook Groups using a Persistent Stream Key
We apologize for the inconvenience of this matter, but unfortunately it is out of our control. Please feel free to reach out to our support team for any help on this issue.
